1. Press the small button on the back of the key fob to release the key.
2. Pull out the key.
3. Locate the battery compartment. It is usually a small, plastic door on the back of the key fob.
4. Use a small screwdriver or your fingernail to pry open the battery compartment.
5. Remove the old battery.
6. Insert the new battery, making sure that the positive (+) side of the battery is facing up.
7. Close the battery compartment.
8. Insert the key back into the key fob.
The battery in a BMW key fob typically lasts for about 2-3 years. If you notice that the key fob is not working properly, such as if the buttons are not responsive or the key fob does not unlock the car, it may be time to change the battery.
