1. Disconnect the spark plug wire. This will prevent the engine from starting while you're working on it.
2. Remove the oil drain plug. The oil drain plug is usually located on the bottom of the oil pan.
3. Place a drain pan under the oil drain plug. The drain pan should be large enough to catch all of the oil that will drain out of the engine.
4. Allow the oil to drain completely. This may take a few minutes.
5. Reinstall the oil drain plug. Once the oil has drained completely, reinstall the oil drain plug.
6. Open the oil fill cap. The oil fill cap is usually located on the top of the engine.
7. Add new oil to the engine. Add enough new oil to bring the oil level up to the "full" mark on the oil dipstick.
8. Reinstall the oil fill cap. Once you've added new oil, reinstall the oil fill cap.
9. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. This will circulate the new oil throughout the engine and help to remove any remaining oil from the cylinder.
10. Check the oil level again. Once the engine has been running for a few minutes, check the oil level again and make sure it's at the "full" mark on the oil dipstick.
