1. Turn off the fuel petcock. This is located on the right side of the tank, near the bottom. Turn it to the "Off" position.
2. Disconnect the fuel line. There are two fuel lines that connect to the tank: one on the left side and one on the right side. Disconnect both of these lines using a 10mm wrench.
3. Remove the bolts that hold the tank in place. There are four bolts that hold the tank in place: two at the front and two at the rear. Remove these bolts using a 12mm wrench.
4. Lift the tank off of the motorcycle. Be careful not to spill any fuel.
5. Disconnect the electrical connections. There are two electrical connections that need to be disconnected: one for the fuel gauge and one for the ignition switch. Disconnect these connections using a small flathead screwdriver.
6. Remove the gas tank. The gas tank is now free to be removed from the motorcycle.
To reinstall the gas tank, simply follow these steps in reverse order.
