Locate the ignition switch. It is usually located on the right side of the handlebars.
Disconnect the ignition switch from the wiring harness. There should be two or three wires connected to the ignition switch. Disconnect these wires by unplugging them or removing the nuts or screws that hold them in place.
Connect a jumper wire between the positive terminal of the battery and the wire that goes to the "Start" terminal of the ignition switch. This will provide power to the starter solenoid and allow the engine to start.
Connect a jumper wire between the negative terminal of the battery and the wire that goes to the "Kill" terminal of the ignition switch. This will ground the ignition system and allow the engine to run.
Start the engine by pressing the starter button. The engine should start and run.
Disconnect the jumper wires and reconnect the ignition switch to the wiring harness.
Test the ignition switch to make sure that it is working properly. The engine should only start when the ignition switch is turned to the "Start" position.
