1. Start the engine and allow it to warm up.
2. Locate the idle adjustment screw. It's a small screw on the left side of the carburetor, near the top.
3. Use a flat-blade screwdriver to turn the screw clockwise to increase the idle speed, or counterclockwise to decrease the idle speed.
4. Adjust the idle speed so that the engine runs smoothly and does not stall when you take your hand off the throttle.
To stop the gas from coming out of the overflow tube, you will need to adjust the fuel level in the carburetor. Here's how:
1. Remove the fuel tank and bowl.
2. Remove the gasket between the bowl and the carburetor body.
3. Locate the float valve. It's a small, round valve in the center of the bowl.
4. Bend the float valve tab up slightly to decrease the fuel level, or down slightly to increase the fuel level.
5. Replace the bowl gasket and the fuel tank.
6. Start the engine and check for leaks.
