2. Drain the fuel system. Disconnect the fuel line from the engine. Start the engine and let it run until the fuel tank is empty. Turn off the engine and reconnect the fuel line.
3. Remove the battery. Disconnect the battery cables and remove the battery from the boat. Store the battery in a cool, dry place, such as a garage or basement.
4. Change the engine oil. Drain the old engine oil and replace it with new oil of the correct type and weight.
5. Lubricate the engine. Remove the spark plugs and spray a small amount of fogging oil into each cylinder. Replace the spark plugs.
6. Grease the propeller shaft. Remove the propeller and grease the propeller shaft with marine-grade grease.
7. Protect the exterior of the boat. Clean the exterior of the boat and apply a coat of wax to protect it from the elements.
8. Cover the boat. Place a boat cover over the boat to protect it from rain, snow, and ice.
