How do you Flush a radiator on Yamaha banshee?

Flushing the radiator of a Yamaha Banshee is a maintenance procedure that helps remove scale, debris, and old coolant from the system. Here are the steps on how to flush the radiator of a Yamaha Banshee:

1. Prepare your tools and materials.

- Safety goggles

- Socket set

- Pliers

- Hose clamp pliers

- Funnel

- Container to catch drained coolant (at least 2 gallons)

- New coolant (Banshee requires approximately 1.2 gallons)

- Distilled water

2. Warm up the engine.

- Start the Banshee and let it run for a few minutes until the engine reaches operating temperature. This will help loosen any stuck particles in the radiator.

3. Drain the old coolant.

- Place the drain pan under the Banshee's radiator.

- Locate the radiator drain bolt or petcock (usually at the bottom of the radiator).

- Open the drain bolt or petcock and let all the coolant drain out. Be careful as the coolant may be hot.

4. Remove the radiator cap.

- Locate the radiator cap on top of the radiator.

- Unscrew the radiator cap carefully, allowing any remaining pressure in the system to escape.

5. Flush the radiator.

- Using a garden hose, connect it to the radiator's top opening.

- Turn on the water and let it flow through the radiator until the water coming out of the drain hole runs clear.

- This step helps remove any remaining scale, debris, and old coolant.

6. Reinstall the drain plug or petcock.

- Once the radiator is flushed, close the drain plug or petcock.

7. Refill the radiator.

- Place a funnel on top of the radiator's opening.

- Pour the new coolant into the funnel until the radiator is full.

- Follow the Banshee's coolant fill guidelines to ensure proper levels.

8. Mix 50/50 coolant with water.

- Banshee requires a 50/50 mix of coolant and distilled water.

- Check your coolant to water ratios, as this can vary depending on your location and riding conditions.

9. Burp the radiator.

- With the engine off and the radiator cap removed, start the Banshee and let it run for a few minutes. This will help remove any trapped air in the system.

- Squeeze the radiator hoses gently to help release trapped air.

- Top up the coolant level if needed.

10. Replace the radiator cap.

- Replace the radiator cap securely to ensure a proper seal.

11. Test the system.

- Take the Banshee for a short ride and observe the coolant temperature gauge to ensure it operates within the normal range.

Note: Always refer to the Banshee's service manual for specific instructions and guidelines related to flushing the radiator.
