Disconnect the battery:
Start by disconnecting the negative battery cable from the battery. If you connect and disconnect the wires to the ignition switch with the battery connected, you run the risk of frying your electrical components.
Locate the ignition switch wires:
Find the ignition switch wires. They are usually labeled IGN and GRD.
Jump the wires:
Use a piece of wire to jump the IGN and GRD wires. This will bypass the ignition switch and allow the engine to start.
Start the engine:
Turn the key to the "On" position and press the start button. The engine should start.
Reconnect the battery:
Once the engine is running, reconnect the negative battery cable.
Test the hot wire:
Turn the key to the "Off" position and remove the wire that you used to jump the wires. The engine should continue to run.
If the engine stalls:
If the engine stalls when you remove the wire, you will need to use a different wire. Try a thicker gauge wire or a shorter wire.
