Parts needed:
- New speedometer cable
- Cable clips
- Wrench set
Procedure:
1. Locate the speedometer cable. It is usually routed along the front forks and connects to the speedometer on one end and the transmission on the other.
2. Disconnect the speedometer cable from the speedometer. Use a wrench to loosen the nut or bolt that holds the cable in place.
3. Disconnect the speedometer cable from the transmission. This may involve removing the front wheel and/or the derby cover.
4. Remove the speedometer cable from the bike. Once it is disconnected from both ends, you can pull the cable out of its guides.
5. Install the new speedometer cable. Start by routing it through the guides in the same way as the old cable.
6. Connect the speedometer cable to the speedometer. Tighten the nut or bolt that holds it in place.
7. Connect the speedometer cable to the transmission. Reinstall the front wheel and/or the derby cover if necessary.
8. Test the speedometer. Ride the motorcycle and make sure the speedometer is working correctly.
Here are some additional tips:
- Be careful not to damage the speedometer cable when removing it.
- Make sure the new speedometer cable is the correct length.
- When installing the new cable, make sure it is routed correctly and does not rub against any other parts of the motorcycle.
