1. Prepare the motorcycle. Park your motorcycle on a flat surface and turn off the engine. Allow it to cool down if it has been running. Engage the parking brake and put the transmission in neutral.
2. Locate the oil pan. The oil pan is located on the bottom of the engine, underneath the transmission. It is a rectangular metal pan that holds the engine's oil.
3. Find the oil plug. The oil plug is located on the bottom of the oil pan, near the front of the engine. It is a 17mm hex head bolt.
