Locate the air/fuel mixture screw. It is usually located on the side of the carburetor, near the throttle body.
Using a screwdriver, turn the screw clockwise to lean out the mixture or counterclockwise to richen the mixture.
Make small adjustments, no more than 1/4 turn at a time.
Test ride the motorcycle and check the performance. If the engine is running rough or hesitating, you may need to adjust the mixture again.
Once you have found the ideal setting, tighten the locknut on the screw to prevent it from moving.
Here are some additional tips for adjusting the air/fuel mixture:
If the engine is running rich, you may see black smoke coming from the exhaust.
If the engine is running lean, you may hear a pinging or knocking noise from the engine.
Always start with the mixture screw set at the factory default setting.
Make small adjustments and test ride the motorcycle until you find the ideal setting.
