* Under the hood, in the fuse/relay center: This is the most common location. The fuse/relay box is typically located near the battery, often under a cover. The relay itself might be labeled, or you might need to consult your owner's manual or a wiring diagram to identify it.
* Inside the passenger compartment fuse box: Less common, but possible. Again, check your owner's manual or a wiring diagram.
To find it, you'll need to:
1. Consult your owner's manual: This is the best place to start. The manual should have a diagram showing the location of all fuses and relays.
2. Locate the fuse/relay box(es): Look under the hood and also check inside the passenger compartment (usually under the dash).
3. Look for a relay: Relays are usually square or rectangular and have multiple pins/terminals. You might find a diagram on the inside of the fuse box lid that shows which relay is which.
4. Use a wiring diagram: If you can't find it using the manual or by visual inspection, obtain a wiring diagram for your specific 1994 GMC Sonoma. This will definitively show you the location and the relay's function.
Important Note: Before working on any electrical components, disconnect the negative (-) terminal of your battery to prevent accidental shorts and damage.
