What is the problem with 99 Intrepid drivers window motors?

The common problem with window regulator motors in 1999 Dodge Intrepids (and other Chrysler vehicles of that era) is failure of the plastic components within the regulator mechanism itself, not necessarily the motor itself.

While the motor might *seem* to be the culprit (it might not work), the actual issue is often:

* Broken plastic gears: These gears are responsible for moving the window up and down. They are notoriously brittle and prone to cracking or stripping, especially with age and wear.

* Broken plastic clips or guides: These hold the window in place and help the regulator function smoothly. These can break, causing the window to bind or become inoperable.

* Worn-out plastic cable: Some designs use a plastic cable that can fray or break.

The motor usually still functions, but the broken plastic parts prevent it from doing its job. Replacing the entire window regulator assembly (which includes the motor and the plastic parts) is generally the most effective and cost-effective repair, rather than just replacing the motor alone.
