Pushing or pulling the stalk toward you (or up) from the low beam setting is usually what activates the high beams. Sometimes there's a separate switch, but a single stalk is typical.
* A floor switch (less likely): While uncommon on most cars of that era, some models *might* have a separate floor-mounted switch for high beams. Check under the steering wheel or on the floor near the steering column.
