* Sides of the Engine Block: You'll likely find several freeze plugs along the sides of the engine block, near the cylinder bores. These are often the most noticeable.
* Bottom of the Engine Block: At least one, and possibly more, freeze plugs are located at the very bottom of the engine block. These are the most difficult to access and replace.
Important Note: Due to variations in manufacturing, and potential engine modifications, the exact number and placement of freeze plugs might slightly vary. Referencing a repair manual specifically for a 1986 Chevy S10 with the 2.8L V6 engine is the best way to pinpoint their exact locations. A Haynes or Chilton manual would be a helpful resource. Visually inspecting the engine block (after draining coolant, of course) is also recommended.
