* Oil Separator Issues: Some vehicles have an oil separator as part of the PCV system. If this separator fails, it won't effectively remove oil from the crankcase gases, leading to oil in the intake. The Lightning might have one, although its exact configuration needs to be verified.
* Seriously Damaged/Worn Piston Rings: In severe cases, worn piston rings can allow excessive oil to be burned, leading to oil entering the intake. This is less likely to be the sole cause of oil in the air filter unless there are other obvious signs of significant engine wear.

Don't ignore this. Driving with oil in the air filter can damage the engine's sensors and potentially lead to a lean condition (too much air, not enough fuel), resulting in misfires or worse.
1. Check the PCV system immediately. Inspect the PCV valve, hoses, and connections for cracks, clogs, or leaks. Replace any damaged parts.
2. Inspect the valve cover gasket for leaks. Look closely for any oil seepage around the valve cover.
3. Consult a mechanic: If you're not comfortable inspecting these components yourself, take your Lightning to a qualified mechanic. They can properly diagnose the root cause of the oil in the air filter and make the necessary repairs.
Ignoring this issue could lead to more serious engine problems and expensive repairs down the road. Addressing it promptly is crucial.
