1. Open the hood of the vehicle.
2. Locate the overhead valve adjustment cover on the top of the engine. It is usually a round or rectangular cover with bolts holding it in place.
3. Remove the overhead valve adjustment cover.
4. Once the cover is removed, you will see the rocker arms and valves.
5. Use a feeler gauge to measure the clearance between the rocker arms and the valves. The clearance should be between 0.008 and 0.012 inches (0.20 and 0.30 mm).
6. If the clearance is not within specifications, you will need to adjust it. To do this, loosen the locknut on the rocker arm and turn the adjusting screw until the clearance is correct.
7. Once the clearance is correct, tighten the locknut.
8. Repeat steps 5-7 for all of the valves.
9. Reinstall the overhead valve adjustment cover.
