Key:
- GP: Glow plug
- GRND: Ground
- B+: Battery positive
- SW: Glow plug switch
- R: Resistor
Operation:
- When the glow plug switch is turned on, power from the battery flows through the resistor and to the glow plugs.
- The resistor limits the current flow to the glow plugs, preventing them from overheating.
- The glow plugs heat up and begin to glow.
- Once the glow plugs reach the desired temperature, the glow plug switch is turned off and the glow plugs stop glowing.
- The engine can then be started.
