1. Disconnect the battery. This is important to prevent any electrical damage while you are working on the ignition switch.
2. Remove the steering wheel. There are two screws on either side of the steering wheel that need to be removed. Once the screws are removed, you can carefully pry the steering wheel off. You can use a special steering wheel puller if necessary.
3. Remove the ignition switch. There are four screws that hold the ignition switch in place. Remove these screws and pull the switch out of the dash.
4. Disconnect the wiring from the ignition switch. There are several wires that are connected to the ignition switch. Disconnect these wires by squeezing the tabs on the connectors and pulling them apart.
5. Remove the key cylinder. There is a small clip that holds the key cylinder in place. Use a small screwdriver to pry this clip out and then pull the key cylinder out of the ignition switch.
6. Reassemble everything in reverse order.
Here are some additional tips for removing the key cylinder from the ignition switch on a 1965 Chevy:
* Be careful not to damage the wiring when you are disconnecting it.
* If you are having difficulty removing the key cylinder, you can try tapping it with a hammer gently.
* If the key cylinder is still stuck, you may need to use a penetrating oil to loosen it up.
