2. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
3. Locate the fuel pump access door. On the 2000 Mitsubishi Mirage, it is typically located under the rear seat, in the trunk floor.
4. Remove the access door. This can usually be done by removing the screws or bolts that hold it in place.
5. Locate the fuel pump. It will be a cylindrical object with a black plastic cover.
6. Disconnect the negative terminal of the vehicle battery to disable the power supply to the fuel pump.
7. Disconnect the fuel lines and electrical connectors from the pump.
8. Remove the mounting bolts that hold the fuel pump in place and carefully lower it out of the tank.
9. Take the fuel pump out of the tank, inspect the condition, and replace if necessary.
10. Gently lower the fuel pump into the tank, making sure that it is properly seated.
11. Reconnect the fuel lines and electrical connectors.
12. Reconnect the battery terminal.
13.Replace the access door.
14. Restart the engine and check for leaks.
