1. Lift the rear seat cushion.
2. Locate the protective cover above the fuel filter.
3. Remove the cover.
4. Unscrew the fuel filter inlet and outlet.
5. Pull out the old filter with the connected hoses and replace it with a new one.
6. Reattach the hoses to the new fuel filter.
7. Hand tighten the fuel filter inlet and outlet.
8. Replace the protective cover.
9. Lower the rear seat.
For the 2009 and later Mitsubishi Lancer models, the fuel filter is located inside the fuel tank.
To access and replace it:
1. Relieve the fuel tank pressure by opening the fuel cap.
2. Locate the fuel filter cover underneath the vehicle near the rear axle.
3. Open the cover by removing bolts or screws.
4. Unplug the fuel lines connected to the filter.
5. Unscrew the filter from its housing and take it out.
6. Install a new fuel filter and secure it with the old gaskets.
7. Reattach fuel lines and tighten them.
8. Replace the cover.
