1. Park your vehicle on level ground and allow the engine to cool down.
2. Open the hood of your vehicle.
3. Locate the engine oil dipstick. It is usually marked with a yellow handle.
4. Pull out the dipstick and wipe it clean with a paper towel.
5. Reinsert the dipstick all the way back into the tube and remove it again.
6. Check the oil level on the dipstick. It should be between the "full" and "add" marks.
7. If the oil level is low, you will need to add engine oil.
8. To do this, locate the oil filler cap. It is usually located near the top of the engine.
9. Remove the oil filler cap and add engine oil through the filler hole.
10. Replace the oil filler cap and check the oil level again.
11. The oil pan is located beneath the engine and the oil filter, so you might have to put your vehicle on ramps or a lift, or crawl under the car to access it.
