Below are the steps on how to add transmission fluid to your 2009 Harley-Davidson Street Glide:
1. Gather the necessary materials. You will need:
* Transmission fluid (Harley-Davidson recommends using SAE 75W-90 gear oil)
* A funnel
* A wrench
* A rag
2. Prepare the motorcycle.
- Park the motorcycle on a level surface.
- Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
3. Locate the transmission fill plug.
- It is located on the left side of the transmission case, just below the oil filter.
4. Remove the fill plug.
- Use the wrench to loosen the fill plug and then remove it by hand.
5. Insert the funnel into the fill hole.
6. Add transmission fluid.
- Slowly add transmission fluid to the transmission until it starts to overflow out of the fill hole.
7. Replace the fill plug.
- Once the transmission fluid is full, replace the fill plug and tighten it securely with the wrench.
8. Start the motorcycle and let it run for a few minutes.
- This will circulate the new transmission fluid through the transmission and help to ensure that it is properly lubricated.
9. Check the transmission fluid level.
- With the motorcycle running, use the dipstick to check the transmission fluid level. The fluid level should be between the "full" and "add" marks on the dipstick.
NOTE: If the transmission fluid level is low, add more fluid until it reaches the proper level.
