1. Gather the necessary materials:
- Transmission oil (recommended: SAE 75W-90)
- Funnel
- Measuring cup
- Clean rags
- Wrench
2. Prepare the motorcycle:
- Place the motorcycle on a flat surface.
- Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
- Locate the transmission oil fill plug. On the Buell X1, it is usually located on the left side of the motorcycle, near the bottom of the transmission case.
- Clean the area around the fill plug to prevent dirt from entering the transmission.
3. Remove the fill plug:
- Use the wrench to loosen and remove the fill plug.
- Be careful not to drop the fill plug into the transmission.
4. Add transmission oil:
- Insert the funnel into the transmission oil fill hole.
- Slowly pour transmission oil into the funnel until it reaches the specified level. The correct transmission oil level is usually marked on the transmission case or in the motorcycle's owner's manual.
- Be careful not to overfill the transmission.
5. Replace the fill plug:
- Once the transmission oil is at the correct level, remove the funnel and replace the fill plug.
- Tighten the fill plug securely.
6. Clean up any spilled transmission oil:
- Use a clean rag to wipe up any spilled transmission oil.
- Dispose of the used transmission oil and funnel properly.
