Replacing a Fuse
To replace a blown fuse, follow these steps:
1. Disconnect the battery negative terminal.
2. Identify the blown fuse. The blown fuse will be melted or discolored.
3. Remove the blown fuse. You can use a fuse puller or a pair of needle-nose pliers to remove the fuse.
4. Insert a new fuse of the same amperage.
5. Replace the battery negative terminal.
Precautions
When replacing a fuse, be sure to use a fuse of the same amperage as the blown fuse. Using a fuse with a higher amperage rating can damage the electrical circuits.
Never replace a blown fuse with a coin, paper clip, or other metal object. This can cause a fire.
If you are not comfortable replacing a fuse, take your vehicle to a qualified mechanic.
