How do you line up valves on 1998 chrysler concord 2.7 engine?
To set your timing on your 2.7 Chrysler engine, make sure you top timing mark is set in the center of viewing port. Pull your #1 spark plug and insert a timing probe or long screwdriver or something similar. Then look at the timing tab/pointer on the timing chain cover. Turn the crankshaft till the piston just beginns to come up on top dead center. You will see the screwdriver beginn to move. When it stops moving turn the crankshaft till it just begins to move down. Stop. That will be top dead center. Now look at your camshaft sprocket. At the 12 oclock position will be a pin. It will either point strait down or strait up. If it points up, all you need to do is turn the camshaft sprocket clockwise till the pin points strait down. If it points strait down, turn it counter clockwise till it points strait up. When the camshaft is in the correct position, the crankshaft should still be at top dead center. Install the camshaft sprocket bolt and torque to 120 ft-lb. Recheck the timing marks and make sure they are still set correctly. Replace spark plug and your ready to go.
