How do outboard engines work?

When the engine is started, the fuel is mixed with air and delivered to the engine's cylinders. The spark plugs then ignite the fuel, creating a controlled explosion that drives the pistons down. The crankshaft converts the reciprocating motion of the pistons into rotary motion. This rotary motion is then transferred to the propeller, which propels the boat through the water.
