- New air filter (OEM or high-quality aftermarket filter)
- Screwdriver
- 10mm wrench
Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Open the Hood:
- Locate the release lever for the hood inside your car, usually near the driver's left foot.
- Pull the release lever to pop the hood.
- Go to the front of the car and lift the hood.
- Secure the hood with the prop rod.
2. Locate the Air Filter Housing:
- The air filter housing is usually situated on top of the engine.
- It is a black plastic box with the words "Air Filter" or "Luftfilter" printed on it.
3. Remove the Old Air Filter:
- Locate the air filter housing cover, usually held in place by a few plastic clips.
- Use a screwdriver to gently pry open the plastic clips and remove the cover.
- Lift out the old air filter from its compartment.
4. Inspect the Air Filter Housing:
- Check the inside of the air filter housing for any dirt or debris.
- If necessary, use a vacuum cleaner to clean the housing.
5. Install the New Air Filter:
- Place the new air filter into the air filter housing.
- Ensure that the filter is properly seated and aligned.
6. Replace the Air Filter Housing Cover:
- Reattach the air filter housing cover by pressing down on the plastic clips until they click into place.
7. Close the Hood:
- Lower the hood of the car.
- Make sure that the hood is securely closed.
8. Start the Engine:
- Start the engine of the car and let it run for a few minutes.
- This will allow the engine management system to adjust to the new air filter.
