Ensure that the car is parked on level ground and the engine is off.
Locate the oil drain plug, which is usually found on the bottom of the transmission pan. Place a suitable oil pan underneath to catch the draining oil.
Unscrew the oil drain plug and allow all of the old oil to drain out. Be patient, as it may take several minutes for all of the oil to drain.
Replace the oil drain plug and tighten it securely.
Locate the oil dipstick or fill plug on the transmission. It may be necessary to remove an access cover or panel to access the dipstick or fill plug.
Insert a funnel into the fill hole and add the recommended amount of automatic transmission fluid (ATF). The recommended amount of ATF is typically specified in the owner's manual.
Check the ATF level using the dipstick. The ATF level should be between the "full" and "add" marks on the dipstick.
Top up with more ATF if necessary and reinsert the dipstick.
Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to circulate the new ATF.
Recheck the ATF level after the engine has been running and make any necessary adjustments.
