1. Gather your materials.
- New oil filter (VW part # 030 115 561 B)
- New oil (4.0L of 5W-40 synthetic oil)
- Oil drain pan
- Funnel
- Wrench
- Rags
*Replacement Oil Drain Plug / Seal (if necessary)*
2. Prepare your car.
- Park your car on a level surface.
- Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
- Engage the parking brake.
- Crawl under the car and locate the oil drain plug.
- Place the oil drain pan under the oil drain plug.
3. Remove the oil drain plug.
- Use a wrench to loosen the oil drain plug and allow the oil to drain into the oil drain pan.
- Wait until all of the oil has drained out.
4. Reinstall the oil drain plug.
- Once all of the oil has drained out, reinstall the oil drain plug.
- Tighten the oil drain plug until it is snug.
5. Remove the oil filter.
- Use a wrench to loosen the oil filter and remove it from the engine.
- Be careful not to spill any oil.
- Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.
6. Install the new oil filter.
- Screw on the new oil filter until it is snug.
7. Add new oil to the engine.
- Use a funnel to add new oil to the engine.
- Add 4.0L of 5W-40 synthetic oil.
8. Check the oil level.
- Use the dipstick to check the oil level.
- The oil level should be between the "full" and "add" marks on the dipstick.
9. Start the engine.
- Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
- Turn off the engine and check the oil level again.
- The oil level should still be between the "full" and "add" marks on the dipstick.
