Why do the high beams work but low on your 2003 Nissan Xterra?

Possible causes:

1. Headlight Switch: The headlight switch may be faulty or have a poor connection. Inspect the switch for any damage or loose connections. If necessary, replace the switch.

2. Headlight Relay: The headlight relay could be defective or have a bad connection. Check the relay for any signs of damage and test its functionality.

3. Wiring and Connectors: Verify that all the wiring and connectors related to the low beam headlights are in good condition. Look for any broken wires, damaged connectors, or corrosion. If necessary, repair or replace the affected components.

4. Headlight Bulbs: Although you mentioned the high beams are working, it's possible that the low beam bulbs have burned out. Inspect the bulbs to see if they are properly seated and functioning. Replace the low beam bulbs if necessary.

5. Headlight Socket: The headlight sockets could be faulty or have poor contacts. Check the condition of the sockets and make sure the bulbs are making proper contact. If the sockets are damaged or corroded, they may need to be replaced.

6. Headlight Ground: Ensure that the ground connections related to the headlights are clean and secure. Any poor grounding could lead to the high beams functioning while the low beams do not.

7. BCM (Body Control Module)/Fuse: Verify that the fuses associated with the low beams are intact and not blown. Also, there may be issues within the BCM that control the functionality of the light.

Note: It is recommended to seek assistance from a qualified mechanic if you are not comfortable performing these checks and repairs yourself, especially if it involves electrical components.
