What type of tanks did Germany use during World War 2?

During the first half of World War 2, Germany employed a wide variety of tanks. These tanks included everything from the Panzer I, a light tank, to the Panzer VI, a heavy tank, and several variants of each type. The most numerous tank used by Germany during the early part of the war was the Panzer IV. In the later stages of the war, Germany developed more advanced tanks such as the Panther and the Tiger tanks, which were much heavier and more powerful than the earlier tanks.
