How do you remove and replace a 1995 BMW 740iL Fuel Pump Relay?

Tools and Materials Needed:

- Flat-head screwdriver

- Phillips-head screwdriver

- 10mm socket wrench

- Replacement fuel pump relay

Instructions:

1. Locate the fuel pump relay. It is located in the trunk of the vehicle, on the right side, behind the carpeting.

2. Remove the trunk carpeting. Use the flat-head screwdriver to pry up the plastic tabs that hold the carpeting in place.

3. Locate the fuel pump relay cover. It is a black plastic cover with the word "RELAY" written on it.

4. Remove the fuel pump relay cover. Use the Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the two screws that hold the cover in place.

5. Locate the fuel pump relay. It is a black plastic relay with a green connector.

6. Disconnect the electrical connector. Use the flat-head screwdriver to pry up the locking tab on the connector and then pull the connector off of the relay.

7. Remove the fuel pump relay. Use the 10mm socket wrench to loosen the nut that holds the relay in place. Once the nut is loose, you can pull the relay out of the socket.

8. Install the replacement fuel pump relay. Insert the new relay into the socket and tighten the nut.

9. Reconnect the electrical connector. Push the connector back onto the relay until the locking tab clicks into place.

10. Replace the fuel pump relay cover. Replace the two screws that hold the cover in place.

11. Replace the trunk carpeting. Press the carpeting back into place until the plastic tabs snap into place.

Additional Notes:

- If the fuel pump relay is faulty, your vehicle will not start.
