What is the su-47 fighter jet?

The Sukhoi Su-47 Berkut (Golden Eagle) is a Russian single-seat, twin-engine, supersonic jet fighter under development by Sukhoi. It first flew on 25 September 1997.

Designed as an experimental aircraft for testing innovative and advanced technologies for future jet fighters, incorporates several unconventional aerodynamic features, such as forward-swept wings, a blended wing-body configuration, and canards.

The Su-47 was primarily designed as a technology demonstrator and never entered mass production.

The aircraft's forward-swept wings provide enhanced maneuverability and lift-generating capabilities at high angles of attack, making it suitable for close-range combat scenarios.

The blended wing-body design and canards contribute to improved aerodynamic efficiency and stability. The aircraft is equipped with a pair of powerful turbofan engines for supersonic performance and advanced avionics systems.

The Su-47's extensive flight envelope allowed for testing various flight control laws, handling qualities, and structural integrity under different flight conditions, contributing to the development of advanced control algorithms and design methodologies for future combat aircraft.

Although the Su-47 did not proceed to full production, its innovative features and the knowledge gained from its development program significantly impacted the design of subsequent Sukhoi fighter jets, such as the Su-35 and Su-57.
