To change the oil in a 1978 Kawasaki KZ650:

1. Start the engine to warm up the oil.

2. Turn off the engine and ensure the motorcycle is on level ground.

3. Place an oil pan under the oil drain bolt on the bottom of the engine.

4. Use a 17mm wrench to loosen and remove the oil drain bolt.

5. Allow the old oil to drain completely.

6. Replace the oil drain bolt and tighten it securely.

7. Locate the oil filter, which is on the right side of the engine, just above the oil drain plug.
