- A valve spring compressor
- A flathead screwdriver
- A 10mm socket wrench
- A 12mm socket wrench
- A deep socket set
Step 1: Remove the valve cover
1. Locate the valve cover on the top of the engine head. It is held in place by four 10mm bolts.
2. Remove the four 10mm bolts and remove the valve cover.
Step 2: Remove the valve springs
1. Use the valve spring compressor to compress the valve springs.
2. Once the springs are compressed, use the flathead screwdriver to pry the valve keepers out of the valve stems.
3. Remove the valve springs and valve keepers.
Step 3: Remove the valves
1. Use the 12mm socket wrench to turn the valve adjuster screws counterclockwise until they are fully loose.
2. Remove the valve adjuster screws and washers.
3. Pull the valves out of the cylinder head.
Step 4: Clean the valve seats
1. Use a wire brush to clean the valve seats in the cylinder head.
2. Remove any dirt, carbon, or debris from the valve seats.
Step 5: Reassemble the valves
1. Insert the new valves into the cylinder head.
2. Install the new valve adjuster screws and washers.
3. Turn the valve adjuster screws clockwise until they are snug.
4. Use a feeler gauge to set the valve clearances.
5. Reinstall the valve springs, valve keepers, and valve cover.
