1. Park the motorcycle on level ground and turn off the engine. Allow the engine to cool down for a few minutes.
2. Locate the transmission oil sight glass. On the 1981 Low Rider, the sight glass is located on the left side of the transmission, near the top.
3. Clean the sight glass with a clean rag.
4. Look at the sight glass. The oil level should be between the "full" and "add" marks on the sight glass.
5. If the oil level is low, add transmission oil through the transmission fill hole. The fill hole is located on the top of the transmission, near the front.
6. Add oil until the oil level reaches the "full" mark on the sight glass.
7. Replace the fill plug and start the engine.
8. Let the engine run for a few minutes, then check the transmission oil level again. The oil level should still be between the "full" and "add" marks on the sight glass.
