How do you set timing on Yamaha 350 bruin?

To adjust the timing on a Yamaha 350 Bruin, you will need the following tools:

A spark plug wrench

A flat blade screwdriver

A 10mm socket and ratchet

A feeler gauge

A timing light

Instructions:

1. Remove the spark plug from the cylinder head.

2. Insert the flat blade screwdriver into the spark plug hole and turn the engine over until the piston is at the top of its compression stroke. This is when the piston is at the highest point in the cylinder and the screwdriver will be at its highest point.

3. Measure the gap between the points on the ignition breaker using a feeler gauge. The gap should be between 0.016 and 0.020 inches (0.40 - 0.50 mm).

4. If the gap is not within specifications, loosen the two screws that hold the ignition breaker in place and adjust the gap by moving the ignition breaker up or down.

5. Once the gap is set, tighten the screws and reinstall the spark plug.

6. Connect the timing light to the engine according to the manufacturer's instructions.

7. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to warm up.

8. Aim the timing light at the flywheel and look for the timing marks. The timing marks are usually a series of lines or dots that are located around the edge of the flywheel.

9. The timing light will flash when the spark plug fires. The timing is correct when the spark plug fires when the timing marks are aligned with the pointer on the engine case.

10. If the timing is not correct, adjust it by moving the ignition breaker up or down until the timing marks are aligned with the pointer.

Note:

- Be sure to follow all safety precautions when working on your Bruin.

- The engine must be completely cool before doing timing adjustment.
