- Adjustable wrench
- Pliers
- Flat-head screwdriver
- New choke cable assembly (if necessary)
- WD-40 or similar penetrating lubricant
Step 2: Locate the choke cable assembly
- The choke cable assembly is usually located on the right side of the handlebar, near the throttle lever.
- It consists of a cable, a housing, and a lever.
Step 3: Disconnect the choke cable from the carburetor
- Use a flat-head screwdriver to loosen the clamp that secures the choke cable to the carburetor.
- Pull the choke cable out of the carburetor.
Step 4: Disconnect the choke cable from the lever
- Use the adjustable wrench to loosen the nut that secures the choke cable to the lever.
- Pull the choke cable out of the lever.
Step 5: Remove the choke cable housing
- Use the pliers to grip the housing and pull it out of the handlebar.
Step 6: Clean and inspect the choke cable assembly
- Clean the choke cable and housing using WD-40 or similar penetrating lubricant.
- Inspect the cable for any signs of damage or wear.
- If the cable is damaged or worn, replace it with a new one.
Step 7: Reinstall the choke cable assembly
- Insert the choke cable into the housing.
- Connect the choke cable to the lever and secure it with the nut.
- Connect the choke cable to the carburetor and secure it with the clamp.
Step 8: Test the choke cable assembly
- Start the engine and check that the choke works properly.
