1. Open the hood of the Passat.
2. Locate the power steering fluid reservoir. It is a plastic container with a black cap, usually located on the passenger side of the engine bay. The cap may be marked with a "PS" or "Power Steering" symbol.
3. Check the fluid level. The fluid level should be between the "MIN" and "MAX" marks on the reservoir.
4. If the fluid level is low, add more power steering fluid. Use only the type of fluid recommended by the vehicle manufacturer.
