Tools and Materials Needed:

- Socket set

- Wrench set

- Replacement alternator

- New serpentine belt (if necessary)

- Coolant (if necessary)

Instructions:

1. Disconnect the battery. This is a safety precaution to prevent any electrical shocks.

3. Loosen the serpentine belt tensioner. This will allow you to remove the serpentine belt.

4. Remove the serpentine belt. Be careful not to drop it into the engine compartment.

5. Unbolt the alternator. There are usually two or three bolts that hold the alternator in place.

6. Disconnect the electrical connections. There are two electrical connections that need to be disconnected: the positive (+) terminal and the negative (-) terminal.

7. Remove the alternator. Once the bolts are removed and the electrical connections are disconnected, you can remove the alternator from the engine compartment.

8. Install the new alternator. Reverse the steps above to install the new alternator.

9. Reconnect the electrical connections.

10. Reinstall the serpentine belt.

11. Tighten the serpentine belt tensioner.

12. Start the engine.

13. Check the alternator output. The alternator should be outputting around 14 volts.

Tips:

- Be careful not to drop the alternator into the engine compartment.
