Tools and Materials Needed:
- Replacement power steering pulley
- 3/8-inch drive ratchet
- 15/16-inch socket
- Breaker bar
- Pry bar
- Vise grips
- Jack and jack stands
- Safety glasses
Instructions:
1. Prepare the vehicle. Park the van on a level surface and turn off the engine. Engage the parking brake, and chock the wheels. Raise the front of the van with a jack and place it on jack stands.
2. Remove the serpentine belt. Use the 3/8-inch drive ratchet and 15/16-inch socket to loosen the tensioner pulley bolt. Rotate the tensioner pulley counterclockwise to relieve tension on the serpentine belt. Remove the serpentine belt from the power steering pulley.
3. Loosen the power steering pulley bolt. Use the breaker bar and 15/16-inch socket to loosen the power steering pulley bolt.
4. Remove the power steering pulley. Use the pry bar and vise grips to pry the power steering pulley off of the shaft.
5. Install the new power steering pulley.
- Slide the new power steering pulley onto the shaft.
- Use your hands to turn the pulley until the bolt hole lines up with the hole in the shaft.
- Insert the power steering pulley bolt and tighten it with the breaker bar and socket.
6. Reinstall the serpentine belt.
- Place the serpentine belt around the power steering pulley and the other pulleys on the engine.
- Use the 3/8-inch drive ratchet and 15/16-inch socket to tighten the tensioner pulley bolt.
7. Lower the vehicle. Carefully lower the van from the jack stands. Ensure the wheels are secure and unchock them before driving the vehicle.
