1. Jack and jack stands
2. Wrench set
3. Screwdriver
4. Replacement fan belt
Instructions:
1. Prepare the vehicle. Park the car on a level surface. Engage the parking brake and turn off the engine. Allow the engine to cool to a safe temperature.
2. Raise the vehicle. Place the jack under the front of the car and raise the vehicle until the wheels are off the ground. Secure the vehicle with jack stands.
3. Locate the fan belt. The fan belt is located on the front of the engine and connects the crankshaft to the water pump, alternator, and power steering pump.
4. Loosen the tensioner. Use the wrench to loosen the tensioner bolt. This will release the tension on the fan belt.
5. Remove the fan belt. Slide the fan belt off of the pulleys.
6. Install the new fan belt. Place the new fan belt around the pulleys, starting with the crankshaft pulley.
7. Tighten the tensioner. Use the wrench to tighten the tensioner bolt. This will tension the fan belt.
8. Lower the vehicle. Carefully lower the vehicle using the jack.
Tips:
- Make sure the new fan belt is the correct size and type for your vehicle.
- Be careful not to overtighten the tensioner bolt. This could damage the fan belt or the pulleys.
- If the fan belt is cracked, glazed, or frayed, it should be replaced immediately.
