2005 VW Golf Transmission Fluid Location

• Front-left side of the engine compartment

• Below the air filter housing

• Access plug 19 mm head bolt.

Tools Needed:

• Small funnel

• 19 mm wrenches

1. Purchase the correct transmission fluid for your vehicle's year, make and model.

2. Locate the transmission fill plug.

- The transmission fill plug is typically located on the side of the transmission housing, near the bottom.

- It is usually marked with a "T" or "TRANS" symbol.

- The fill plug on a 2005 VW Golf is a 19 mm bolt located on the front-left side of the engine compartment, below the air filter housing.

3. Remove the transmission fill plug.

4. Insert the funnel into the fill hole.

5. Add transmission fluid to the transmission until it begins to overflow from the fill hole.

6. Replace the transmission fill plug once the correct fluid level has been reached.

7. Check the transmission fluid level.

- Check the transmission fluid level with the engine running in park and the transmission in neutral.

- The transmission fluid level should be between the "FULL" and "ADD" marks on the transmission fluid dipstick.

-If the transmission fluid level is low, add more fluid until it reaches the correct level.
