1. Turn the key to the "ON" position, but do not start the engine.
2. Locate the diagnostic connector, which is usually located under the dashboard on the driver's side.
3. Connect a scan tool or code reader to the diagnostic connector.
4. Turn the key to the "OFF" position.
5. Wait 10 seconds.
6. Turn the key to the "ON" position, but do not start the engine.
7. The check engine light should now be off.
8. If the check engine light is still on, there may be a problem with the engine that needs to be diagnosed and repaired.
