1. Tighten the head bolts to 20 Nm (15 ft-lbs) in the sequence shown in the diagram below.
2. Tighten the head bolts to 40 Nm (30 ft-lbs) in the same sequence.
3. Tighten the head bolts to 60 Nm (44 ft-lbs) in the same sequence.
4. Give the head bolts a final tightening of 90 degrees in the same sequence.

Be sure to use a torque wrench to ensure that the head bolts are tightened to the correct specifications. Over-tightening the head bolts can damage the engine.
