1. Make sure that the car is turned off.
2. Locate the diagnostic port under the dashboard, usually near the driver’s side kick panel.
3. Insert a jumper wire or paper clip into the two terminals labeled “TEN” and “GND.”
4. Turn on the ignition switch, but do not start the car.
5. Wait for the CEL to turn on and then turn off.
6. Remove the jumper wire or paper clip from the diagnostic port.
7. Start the car and check if the CEL is still off.
