Where are the timing marks for a 1.8 volkswagen engine?

2002-2005 1.8L Engine (BEW, APH)

* The camshaft timing marks are located on the rear of the camshaft.

* The crankshaft timing marks are located on the front of the crankshaft.

* The flywheel timing mark is located on the flywheel ring gear.

To locate the timing marks:

1. Remove the timing belt cover.

2. Rotate the crankshaft until the timing mark on the flywheel is aligned with the pointer on the oil pump housing.

3. Rotate the camshaft until the timing marks on the camshaft are aligned with the marks on the cylinder head.

If the timing marks are not aligned, the timing belt needs to be adjusted.

*Note: *

- These instructions are specific to the 1.8L Volkswagen engines. If you are working on a different engine type, the timing marks may be located in different places.

- Always consult the vehicle repair manual for specific instructions for your vehicle.
