How do you replace the windshield on your freightliner?

Step 1: Remove the old windshield.

Remove the wiper arms.

Remove the old windshield molding.

Score an inch deep cut with a utility knife around the windshield perimeter. (This will make removing the gasket much easier.)

Take a heated knife or metal saw to cut through the remaining pieces of the adhesive between the windshield and the frame.

Pry the windshield out from the frame.

Step 2: Clean the windshield frame and gasket area.

Remove the old gasket from the frame.

Clean the frame with a metal cleaner.

Scrape any excess adhesive off the frame.

Sand the frame until smooth if there any rough edges.

Step 3: Apply new gasket tape to the frame.

Apply a thin bead of sealant around the perimeter of the gasket area inside the frame

Let it sit for 5-10 minutes to tack.

Press the new gasket into place firmly so it gets bonded with the sealant.

Make sure it is seated properly all around.

Step 4: Install the new windshield.

Carefully lower the new windshield into place, gently seating the new gasket into the slot around the perimeter.

Check alignment

Gently press the glass up into the gasket with your hands making sure it is seated well.

Make sure it is centered

Carefully remove any excess sealant on the truck, glass and frame with a sharp blade.

Step 5: Let the adhesive cure.

Don’t drive the vehicle until the sealant is fully cured. This can take up to 48 hours, so be patient.

Step 6: Restore the windshield wipers.

Now that your new windshield is properly installed, you can reinstall the wiper arms.
