1. Make sure that the engine is off and the ignition switch is in the "Off" position.
2. Locate the OBD-II port, usually found underneath the dashboard of the vehicle.
3. Connect an OBD-II scanner to the port and turn the ignition switch to the "On" position without starting the engine.
4. Once connected, follow the prompts on the scanner to navigate to the "Service Light Reset" or similar option.
5. Select the "Reset Service Light" option and confirm the action.
6. Some scanners may require an additional step, such as entering a security code or manufacturer-specific information, so be prepared for this.
7. Once the reset process is complete, disconnect the OBD-II scanner and turn the ignition switch to the "Off" position.
8. Restart the engine. The service engine light should now be reset and turned off.
Remember that while resetting the service engine light clears the stored trouble codes from the vehicle's computer, it doesn't necessarily fix the underlying issue that triggered the light in the first place. If the issue persists, it's recommended to have the vehicle diagnosed by a qualified mechanic or automotive technician.
